How to turn off navigation symbols in Beamer

📅 2013-Jan-20 ⬩ ✍️ Ashwin Nanjappa ⬩ 🏷️ beamer, footer, latex, navigation ⬩ 📚 Archive

By default, Beamer puts navigation symbols in the footer of every slide. These are arrow symbols to move to the first, last, previous and next slides during the presentation. For most presentations, these might be unnecessary.

These symbols can be turned off by adding this to the LaTeX document:

\setbeamertemplate{navigation symbols}{}
