Foobar2000: Installing or Removing Components

One of the strengths of the Foobar2000 music player is the availability of lots of components to enhance its functionality. These components, which can be downloaded online, are usually in the form of a ZIP or DLL file with the prefix foo_.

Installing a component

To install a component, open Foobar2000 and go to File → Preferences. In the Preferences dialog, choose Components and click the Install button. Using the Install Component dialog find the downloaded component on your computer. Click OK or Apply will install the component and restart Foobar2000.

This process installs a component for the user who is using Foobar2000 and not for all the users of the computer. The installed component is placed in a directory based off its name in the location %APPDATA%\foobar2000\user-components

Removing a component

Go to the Preferences dialog (like above), choose Components and right-click on the component you want to remove and choose Remove. Removing a component also requires a restart of Foobar2000.
