Unbreakable (5/5) – Got to watch this Night Shyamalan’s movie at a friend’s place after a long time. IMO this movie is deeper, darker and more satisfying than The Sixth Sense. The movie’s about an everyday guy who slowly discovers his superhero power and his place in the world. No one but Night could’ve brought it out so perfectly – such delicate handling, strong characters, superb shadow-light play in every frame and slow sequences. And what an ending – it’s so good that when Elijah says “I should’ve known way back when … they called me Mr. Glass.”, it completes a perfect circle of the story. This is easily Night’s best work, a superb tribute to comicbook superheroes. Night’s movies after this are just crappy in comparison.
