How to set packet size of Ethernet adapter

Setting Jumbo Frame size of Ethernet adapter
Setting Jumbo Frame size of Ethernet adapter

You use the Ethernet adapter on your computer to connect to the workplace LAN, home router or GigE devices. A standard Ethernet frame has a maximum packet size of 1500 bytes. Some devices may need larger packet size to transmit more data quickly. If your Ethernet adapter can support it, you can increase the packet size it can receive and transmit.

To increase the packet size of your Ethernet adapter:

  • Open Device Manager. In the section Network Adapters, find the name of your Ethernet adapter. Right-click on it and choose Properties.

  • In the Properties window, go to the Advanced tab. Look for the Property named Jumbo Frame. In the Value dropdown, choose the packet size you would like to increase to. Click OK.
