How to search for packages in Ubuntu

Searching for all the packages whose name contains a certain string is a pretty common operation.

This can be done easily using apt-cache:

$ apt-cache search vim

If you are familiar with aptitude, the command there is similar too:

$ aptitude search vim

Tried with: Ubuntu 14.04
